Illustrator - Linda Apple
“My mother once told me that I started to draw as soon as I could hold a pencil. I have no memory of that, but I do remember that during those years, art was all I thought about. I grew up in the Appalachian hills of Southern Ohio, delighting in drawing and painting at an early age with the support of creative and loving parents. In 1964, after high school, I headed off to the big city to pursue my art career with a scholarship from the Columbus College of Art & Design. This was the first step in my life-loving desire of being a professional artist which I've now done for over 40 years. I've always sought new ideas and experiences in art which has led me to travel to France, Italy, Greece, Sweden, Mexico, Canada and the U.S.A. southwest. As a child I dreamed of working for Disney. But as I got older and entered college, influences steered me down the path of fine arts. That dream has definitely stayed with me and has influenced my artwork over the years. Many of my pieces have an innocent and whimsical quality to them and people throughout my life have told me I should have been a children's book illustrator. I've always had an interest in illustrating a picture book but never sought out a writer or felt comfortable writing it myself. I'm delighted to have the chance to collaborate with my son and illustrate his children's books. You can view more of my artwork or contact me on my web site at applearts.com
